Practice Updates & 1st Meet Info
Hey Fins Families,
We have a lot of updates for this upcoming week so please read this entire email!
First, thank you to everyone who jumped in and helped out at time trials! We got all of the races we needed in one practice. Please be patient as the times are manually uploaded to SwimTopia. If you were unable to attend the time trials, we will use best times from last year or acquire times throughout the season if you are new to the team.
PRACTICE:
Please note our morning practice schedule starts on Tuesday, May 28. The practice schedule is listed below. One change for morning practice is that we will also have dryland which includes a short workout outside the pool following practice. 11+ age groups will have their dryland from 7:30-8am before their practice. All other age groups will have dryland for 30 minutes following their scheduled practice time. Please have your swimmer bring tennis shoes and an extra towel to use for dryland.
Practice Schedule:
11+: Dryland 7:30-8:00am; Pool-8-9am
9/10 & advanced 7 / 8*: Pool-9-10am; Dryland 10:00-10:30am
7 / 8 & 6 Under: Pool 10-11am; Dryland 11:00-11:30am
*Coach Asheley will contact the swimmers in the 7 /8 age group if you are being moved to the “advanced group.”
Mini Fins will receive a separate email. They start practice Tuesday, May 28 from 11-11:30!
MEET INFO:
Home meet @ Fieldstone: Thursday, May 30
Theme: NEON-dress in your favorite neon for a FINTASTIC glow party!
DECLARING FOR MEETS: Most importantly, we need everyone to declare their swimmer for the meet by tonight at midnight. This means letting us know whether your swimmer will be attending or not attending the meet. To do this, please go to www.fieldstonefins.swimtopia.com and log in. Click on Meets & Events→select the Longlake meet→Click the GREEN RSVP button→Select “attending” or “not attending” for EACH swimmer. By selecting attending, this will allow Coach Asheley to know your swimmer will be at the meet so she can enter them into individual and relay events. If you have trouble with this, please email us so we can troubleshoot. You will need to do this each week for meets (they are all open now if you know your schedule already).
PARKING:The meet is at home at Fieldstone Pool: 3350 Elder Field Lane, Cumming, GA. We will attach a picture of the parking map. Our pool parking is large, however, any overflow parking should be along Elder Field Lane. Please do NOT park on Pond Gap Lane as it is a cul-de-sac and cars get stuck with a lot of traffic (it is the first street past the parking lot). We do try to have a one way traffic flow through the parking lot to help keep all cars on the same path. Even though our parking lot is large, we encourage carpooling if possible. We will have volunteers on the parking team helping direct you where to go. Most importantly, please do not park to the right of the clubhouse in the tennis parking lot.
PRE-MEET: Please plan to arrive around 3:30pm for the meet. Upon arriving at the meet, proceed to your assigned bullpens and check in your swimmers. The bullpens will be inside the gate around the zero entry pool. If you know how to mark your swimmers arms (EHL), please do this after you apply sunscreen (sunscreen will remove sharpie) and before you arrive at the meet. If you do not know how to do this, coaches and bullpen parents will be available to help when you arrive at the meet. Fieldstone will warm up from 4-4:30pm. The meet is scheduled to start at 5:30pm.
DURING THE MEET: Swimmers are to stay in their assigned bullpens throughout the meet. Swimmers and spectators are not allowed to use the quiet pool, baby pool, or zero entry pool during the meet. If the swimmer needs to leave the bullpen, they should be with a parent and the bullpen parent should be notified before leaving. This is for the safety of the swimmers and to ensure that swimmers are available for their scheduled races. Parents are not allowed behind the blocks. We will have coaches and deck managers available to make sure swimmers are lined up and ready for their races.

VOLUNTEERS: If you are volunteering at this meet, please check in with Jaclyn at the volunteer tent when you arrive. She will have a tent set up near concessions and give you further instructions.
WHAT TO PACK: Please plan to pack snacks and plenty of water/drinks for your swimmer. It tends to be hot, and the meets are about 4 hours in length. You can use https://fieldstonefins.myshopify.com/ to preorder concessions for your family by Tuesday at midnight.
Also pack: swim caps, extra goggles, 2-3 towels, and activities to keep your child entertained. Please label all items! Kona Ice will be available for purchase as well during the meet. The line can be long so please find a time when your swimmer has a gap in their races.
WEATHER: The weather is looking good at this time. If we do encounter bad weather, we do not have indoor shelter for everyone. In case of inclement weather, please wait in your cars. Please do not leave the meet unless you have received communication to do so from Coach Asheley or the Team Reps.
SWIMTOPIA APP: Please download the SwimTopia app. The free version allows you to see your swimmers times. You can also upgrade and pay by the month to see live results and the score during each meet.
I know this is a lot of information so if you have any questions, please email! Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
